Kid Pics from Cameroon

June 29th, 2010

We sent four disposable cameras out to Cameroon and had some of the local children take them around to take pictures of their community.  The cameras came back and we received some great images.  Here are a few to take a look at.

We might consider doing something with them as the 2010 year comes to an end.  Check back with us to see what’s next.

Students with Cameras

May 25th, 2010

We sent some disposible cameras along with some US volunteers headed for Cameroon.  Our instructions for the students were to take some images of where they live: people, landscapes, everyday life.  We look forward to seeing what comes back and we will share those images with students in New York.

School Assembly

March 26th, 2010

Joe and Tara joined Kevin at his school to follow up after the first collection of dimes.  The sixth, seventh and eighth graders had done a first round of collection and have another to go before the school year is over in June.  We also announced the winner of our contest to see who could get the closest guess to how much we raised in our first round!

Kevin, one of our school coordinators sent us this great image of the big collection jug that is being used to hold all the dimes that the students are bringing in.  Each classroom has a smaller one gallon jug that will eventually get poured into this large one.  Many thanks for making it look so good!

The dime collection begins

October 21st, 2009

We have recently secured two schools in New York City to start raising dimes and build a new classroom in Cameroon.  The goal is to provide the funding required to complete a new classroom for students in a village in Cameroon, and to help build a relationship with the students here in the United States.

The two schools in NYC will be keeping small gallon jugs in their classroom and then start to fill up a large water jug in the main office.  We will be taking periodic trips to the bank to cash it in and see how our fundraiser is going.
